My name is Alison Field and I am a professional Somerset based artist specialising in hand painted original animal portraits and landscapes as ‘Pet Pastel Portraits’.
I received a Diploma in Art Foundation from the Bath Academy of Art when it was based in a beautiful Georgian building at 99-101 Sydney Place in Bath. The site was a wonderful place of creativity, culture, light and history and I was privileged to study there. The experience expanded my appreciation of the creative arts and influenced me to pursue an artistic vocation.
A BA (Hons) degree in Interior Architecture followed from the University of The Creative Arts (formerly SIAD) on the Farnham campus in Surrey and I embarked on a varied career in domestic and commercial Interior Design.
Over the years I have maintained my fine art as a second career and have had a few small exhibitions in Wiltshire and Hampshire. I now have the opportunity to focus on my real passion to create original paintings. My mediums are soft pastel, pastel pencils, pen and wash sketches, acrylic and watercolour paints.
It is a joy to offer my client’s commissioned portraits of their pets, capturing the individuality and personality from favourite photographs. I am a passionate animal lover and I understand the deep emotional connection we have for our companions. For me, a painting has an added essence that inspires an emotional response and I feel our beloved pets deserve to be honoured in such a personal and unique way.
